8 Useful RV Essentials You’ll Need For Camping

#1 – Sewer Hose With Fitting

One of the conveniences that you experience by camping in an RV is the fact that you can use the facilities in the camper instead of being required to walk to the campground bathroom.

Most RVs do come with a sewer hose, but in many cases, this hose is not long enough to reach the dump area with ease.

You will need to purchase a sewer hose that is able to accommodate the campsite that you are staying at as well as a fitting that will keep the odor from spreading.

During the camping season, your sewage system should be emptied frequently, so this is definitely an essential item that you will need.

#2 – Generator

No matter how much battery power your RV has, it is going to take juice to run the water, the air conditioner, the heater, and the refrigerator.

If you don’t have a generator, you are likely to find that your RV power has been drained pretty quickly.

Before you purchase a generator, make sure that it has enough power for your camping needs and that you have a ventilation system to accommodate it.

#3 – Basic Tool Box

When you are camping in your RV, you need a toolbox that can help you fix nearly any problem that may arise.

You need tools to fix electrical issues, plumbing issues, and mechanical issues, so don’t leave home without a well-rounded set of basic tools in your toolbox.

If you are unsure of which tools should be considered essential ones, check out this list to help guide you.

#4 – Pet Supplies

If you are a dog parent, it is a tradition for RVers to bring their furry friends to the campsite with them. It is a great place for a dog to enjoy the outdoors, while you can sit down and relax as well.

If you go for a hike, they will be more than willing to accompany you. Don’t forget that bringing your dog with you means that you need to bring pet supplies as well.

You will need their food dish and water dish, their collar and leash, their toys and treats, poop bags, their bed, their brush, important papers, and a towel for them to use.

If you are unsure of what to pack, this list can help.

#5 – TV Antenna

If you plan to watch any television, then you will most likely need a TV antenna to do so.

Some campgrounds offer free cable television to anyone staying in at a full hookup site but don’t count on it for a source of entertainment.

This antenna will allow you to get the local channels in the area, but even so, locations do not offer a strong enough signal.

Don’t forget there are TV antennas that allow you to connect to satellite TV, all you need is a subscription and the right type of antenna.

#6 – First Aid Kit

Accidents can happen anywhere, so make sure to always have a first aid kit with you that can be used in the event of an emergency.

This is especially useful to have when you are camping with children or animals because you need to be prepared if they fall or injure themselves.

What should be in your first aid kit? Well, the essentials, but if you are unsure of what that entails, check out this list.

#7 – Surge Protectors

The last thing that you need when you are camping is to blow a breaker or fry an appliance in your RV. One way to prevent this from happening is to have a surge protector in place.

This will ensure that these unfortunate occurrences do not happen. In fact, many of these protectors will simply turn off the power to stop the damage from happening.

#8 – RV Toilet Paper

Regular toilet paper does not break down in an RV sewage system as it does in your sewage system at home.

That being said, the best way to prevent clogs from happening while you are camping is to make sure that you have RV toilet paper that is designed to break down more easily.

Obviously, these are not all of the RV essentials that you want to take camping; you will need food, water, firewood, and chairs to sit on while you are outdoors, but these essential are ones that you can easily forget about, which is why they made it on my list.
